May 26 (ROME) Usain opened his 2011 season after a nine-month absence and ran a timid 9.91 seconds in the 100 metres at the Compeed Golden Gala, the third stop on the Samsung Diamond League. He won ahead of Jamaica’s Asafa Powell 9.93 and France’s Christopher Lemaitre 10:00 seconds.

May 31 (OSTRAVA) Usain Bolt won his second race of the season with an identical 9.91 seconds in the 100 metres, as he did in Rome on May 26. The three-time world record holder beat the fastest man in the world this year – Jamaica's Steve Mullings – who did 9.97. Racers Track Club teammate, Daniel Bailey was third in 10.08. The event was the IAAF World Challenge Meeting – 50th Ostrava Golden Spike.

June 9 (OSLO) Bolt, in the right frame of mind, ran an impressive 19.86 seconds in the 200 metres in rainy conditions in Oslo on Thursday, June 9 at the Exxon Mobil Bislett Diamond League meeting. Bolt was coming off a 9.91 seconds repeat performance in two outings in the 100 metres on two occasions in Rome and Ostrava (May 26 and 31) and had fans and analysts wondering.
